The global hitmaker then showed her support for Beyoncé, whose country album Cowboy Carter was not nominated. 

“I was surprised to see Beyoncé not nominated? Her album is amazing… her singles dominate. But she knows that. She doesn’t need a trophy from the CMAs… or permission… or approval from any of their judges,” Billy Ray Cyrus expressed.

Billy Ray Cyrus isn’t the first country artist to share his thoughts on Beyoncé’s lack of nominations at this year’s CMAs, despite Jay-Z’s wife’s album Cowboy Carter hitting No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

Additionally, the singer also had several songs from the album reach the Top 10 on the Billboard HOT 100 chart, including Texas Hold ‘Em which peaked at No. 1.

Besides the support, many audiences have said that Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter was not nominated for this year’s CMA because this album is not a pure country album.
