In a post on social network X on June 5, billionaire Elon Musk, founder of Tesla and Space X, criticized US President Donald Trump as “ungrateful”.
“Without me, Mr. Trump would have lost the election, the Democrats would control the House and the Republicans would have a 51-49 Senate,” he wrote.
On the same day, billionaire Musk made a shocking statement when he supported the possibility of impeaching President Trump and replacing him with Vice President JD Vance.
When Malaysian writer Ian Miles Cheong commented on social media: “President (Trump) and Elon Musk. Who will win? I bet Elon Musk. Mr. Trump should be impeached and replaced by Mr. JD Vance”, just about 20 minutes later, billionaire Musk responded to this comment: “Yes”.
The Tesla and Space X founder recently ended his leadership role at the Office of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and has repeatedly criticized the policies of US President Donald Trump.
One of the policies he opposes is President Trump’s “Big and Beautiful” tax cut bill, which Musk says will send the United States into a debt spiral.
“In the entire history of civilization, there has never been a law that is both big and beautiful. Everyone knows this. Either you get a big and ugly bill or a thin and beautiful bill,” Mr. Musk stated.
The House of Representatives passed the bill in May, and the president is expected to sign it in early July if approved by the Senate. The bill would make the 2017 tax cuts permanent and provide for further tax cuts, while boosting spending in areas such as defense and border security.
In response to billionaire Musk’s criticism, Mr. Trump said he was “very disappointed” with the person who was once considered his right-hand man.
“I have always loved Elon. I would rather have him criticize me than the bill. Because the bill is incredible. Elon and I had a great relationship. I don’t know if we still have that. He knew every aspect of this bill, better than most people. He never had a problem until right after he left. I am very disappointed in Elon. I helped him a lot,” Trump wrote.
President Trump also commented: “I don’t mind Elon turning his back on me, but he should have done so months ago.”
He called his bill “the greatest bill ever introduced into Congress.”
“This is a record $1.6 trillion spending cut and the biggest tax cut ever enacted. If this bill doesn’t pass, taxes will go up 68% and things will get worse. I didn’t create this mess, I’m here to fix it and make America great again,” he wrote.
Mr. Trump and Mr. Musk once had a close relationship. Billionaire Musk is said to have spent heavily to support Mr. Trump’s re-election campaign and was later entrusted with the responsibility of running DOGE with the goal of cutting government spending.
